Description
The Retail Director, Asia is responsible for delivering top and bottom line results in all Asia countries with DTC operations (Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Australia and Taiwan) while providing outstanding customer experience, driving operational excellence, implementing brand strategies and developing strong retail network workforce.
Candidate is required to have fluent and good command of English, Mandarin &/or Cantonese.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Co-create with GM the Retail Strategy & Implementation Plan (Annual Goals)
- Drive Retail Strategy deployment by engaging the relevant office function Stakeholders
- Regularly provide feedbacks to GM to adjust action plan & build retail intelligence to improve future strategies definition and execution
- Revise & Engage Retail Teams to monitor the relevant business growth drivers & KPIS, both quantitative & qualitative in alignment with Company Strategy, Local and/or Store Priorities
- Build for each store an overall understanding of Business Performance, Customer Trends, and Competition Environment
Sales Management
- Provide inputs to budgeting process in terms of sales forecasts, headcount requirements and financial requirements
- Develop and implement the overall commercial action plan to grow the business e.g. targeting, clientele categories (local/tourists) and incentive programs
- Monitor & communicate with regional team on local trading environment and trends, including competition, tourism, consumer trends
- Build Sales Forecast Planning and Ensure consistency of allocation of sales target among each store in alignment with overall company’s strategy
- Monitor on daily basis the Store Performance KPIs with qualitative insights from Brand Managers and Area Managers
- Work with Brand Managers and Area Managers to ensure that budget Store Revenues and Operating Results are achieved and maximized
- Oversee the daily, weekly and monthly monitoring of sales team performance
- Present Asia retail results to regional stakeholders during Retail weekly meetings
- Ensure efficient reporting and upwards communication to the region and HQ upon request
Team Management
- Communicate vision, strategy and clear directions to Brand Managers and Area Managers and support them to cascade to retail staff
- Structure the organization of retail activity and allocate responsibilities and accountabilities
- Guide and support Brand and Area Managers in the operational management of store network (store operations, VM, security, inventory management, etc.) for optimized effectiveness and efficiency
- Manage and guide Retail training teams so that store staff can develop excellent product knowledge, deliver ultimate customer service and embody brand values as per headquarter guidelines
- Provide innovative and proactive suggestions on how to further engage and inspire the Retail Team in partnership with the Talent teams
- Evaluate Brand Manager’s & Area Managers’ competency and leadership skills and define Individual Development Plans. Spend significant time on the floor with Brand Managers and Area Managers to further grow them and lead them - being a role model, coaching and motivating them
- Work with Brand and Area Managers to build a strong retail talent pipeline, identify talents within Store and in the market. Partner with Talent team to achieve better identification of talents and enhance the company's Employee Value Proposition in Retail Industry.
- Work closely with Brand Manager and Area Manager to review the performance and development of Store Management team
Brand Image
- Act as brand ambassador, actively promote the brand in all Asia countries
- Propose and effectively implement local marketing, customer relation/VIP strategies bringing in a positive exposure to the brand image
- Nurture relationship with business community and competition
- Keep abreast of counterfeits activities in the market and provide regular feedback/information to the anti-counterfeiting department
- Regularly communicate on Brand Values and Company Culture to deepen understanding and enhance the importance of Image within Retail Teams
- Lead Brand Managers and Area Managers to ensure Store VM, Store Maintenance and Staff Grooming are in accordance with the company's Image
Operations
- Guide Retail Operation Manager, Brand Managers and Area Managers to ensure Standard Operation Policies and Procedures are regularly updated and that all boutiques are in compliance with Company Standards.
- Perform regular Store Visits. Review on site with each Brand Manager, Area Manager and Store Management all specific store issues & leverage on cross Store Experience to formulate recommendations on Store Image (outside & inside), Store Team & challenges on the floor, Back of House – and also Sales & Inventory Performance.
- Ensure the most updated knowledge of competitors store operations practices and develop the best in class market awareness
- Coach and work with Brand and Area Managers to resolve daily store operations issues.
Qualifications Required
- At least 10 years' managerial experience in retail industry
- Good analytical skills and logical thinking
- Excellent professional presentation and communication capability
- An adequate level of commercial awareness and very good interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and people skills
- Good negotiation skills
- Strong result orientation and business acumen
