A psychometric test is a way of assessing a person’s ability or personality in a measured and structured way. Tests are used by employers to assist them in their recruitment selection processes whilst other tests can help people with career decision making.
Companies believe tests help them recruit the right people with the correct mix of abilities and personal qualities. They are useful for filtering out large numbers of applicants at an early stage, hence saving the company both time and money. Employers generally use two main types of psychometric testing within their selection processes: aptitude/ability tests and personality profiling.
