Weeks after Peter Hawkings announced his departure from Tom Ford after just two seasons, the brand – which was acquired by Estée Lauder for a price of 2.8 billion dollars in 2022 – has announced his successor, Colombia-born French designer Haider Ackermann.
Ackermann follows in the footsteps of Peter Hawkings, the former Senior Vice President of Tom Ford menswear, who stepped into the top spot following Ford’s departure last spring.
In the past four years, he designed a couture collection for Jean Paul Gaultier and did a few one-off creations for his favorite clients, like Tilda Swinton and Timothée Chalamet. Before that, however, he ran his own label for almost two decades, while also taking on the job as creative director of Berluti for three seasons between 2016 and 2018.
Ackermann will be in charge of all collections across the brand, from womenswear and menswear, to eyewear and accessories. Ackermann’s first show for the label will be revealed during Paris Fashion Week’s AW25 edition next March.
