Christian Bassett is recruiting Watch Specialist for a global luxury leader company.

Job Summary

  • To develop a board and general understanding of developing new and existing watches buyers and sellers with the goal of increasing the market share and sales.
  • Responsible for new business generation and for the sourcing, authentication, evaluation and sale of property to meet sales and profit targets.
  • Using national and international networks to ensure a consistent, client focused message.

Main Responsibilities

Business Getting & Selling the Sale

  • Setting an example of scholarship providing : watches expertise, researching and cataloguing objects to the highest standard; according to client service and sale deadlines
  • Expand consignment getting network, actively seek potential collectors and consigners and introduce them to the company
  • Work with international Specialists to agree pricing and to arrange sweep meetings and scheduling

Specialist Client Liaison & Business Development

  • Work closely with Watches Chairman, Watches Specialists worldwide and Client Development Department to execute client and business strategies for Watches in her/his market

Develop client relationships:

  • Assist clients in all manner of pre-sale, and post-sale related service (condition reports, receiving clients, shipping estimates, export issues, making introductions to specialists, executing bids, etc.)
  • Assist clients with consignments as requested (including estimates, post-sale settlement, etc.) at direction of expert department
  • Promote cross-selling activity by department and locations (to increase level of transactions and revenue)
  • Maintain and share timely information pertaining to client activity and details with and through the Client Development Department
  • Introduce and develop new potential clients to consign and buy
  • Proactively gather and share business intelligence from competition in his/her market. Information including but not limited to competitive client information, private collections as well as tracking competitors’ activities
  •  Actively participate and seek involvement in external activities relating to the watches industry


  • Develop market knowledge, including pricing and expertise under the guidance of the specialists
  • Assess the database of clients and establish a program to determine priorities for watches buyers and sellers, executing this in close conjunction with worldwide experts
  • Operating at all times in accordance with the company’s rules on compliance and corporate governance
  • Ad hoc duties as required, including providing support during the Spring and Autumn sales in Hong Kong

Experience/Skills/Competencies Required:

  • Degree educated or equivalent , preferably Art/Business related
  • Proven business getting experience with high value transactions
  • Expert knowledge of watches specialty should include:
  • Current market knowledge
  • Archives and Reference sourcesUnderstanding of the appropriate restoration techniques
  • Network of contacts within the watches market
  • Proven previous Client Relationship Management experience
  • Previous auction experience essential
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team (locally and internationally)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Be proactive/motivated/confident/forward thinking and efficient, with a good eye for detail and ability to prioritize tasks and to meet deadlines
  • Be computer literate (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), SAP beneficial but not essentialExcellent communication skills, written and spoken
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) essential, other languages beneficial (mandarin, Cantonese)
