Couture Week At Miu Miu Club

There was a scramble for candy-colored pumps in the backstage area after Miu Miu’s Resort show, as one staffer handed out the striped Miu Miu Club T-shirts that are this summer’s instant status tee. “By some law of physics, I’ve never walked for Miu Miu before,” remarked Edie Campbell, “but now that I’ve got my shoes, I’m going to go clear the Floor.Down on the Floor, and down on the smoking terrace below it, Amber Valletta, Kate Moss, Natasha Poly, Daria Strokous, and Stacy Martin, the face of Miu Miu’s new fragrance, mingled and posed with more men in corsets than one ordinarily sees at a couture week party.
“I’m Miss Fame NYC, but people call me Fame for short,” said the Evangelista-esque blond in the burgundy silk cocktail dress, one of the RuPaul’s Drag Race girls invited by the house and its party organizer, Club Sandwich. “They styled me up, and I’m just loving being shelled out in all this flair.” A few poses later, she added, “I was born in ’85, and the icons in this room helped me from my persona since the ’90s. These women are why I’m beyond-this-planet beautiful.”
Elsewhere in the Palais d’Iéna galaxy, Kiernan Shipka wandered through the crowd taking it all in. “Miu Miu is one of my favorites. It was amazing,” the young star observed of her first-ever Paris fashion show. “The patterns and stripes and vibrancy of it all was just so original and unique—you can wear those clothes anywhere.” Shipka may still have been on LA time, but no matter. “I definitely gotta dance,” she enthused as she drifted toward the music.By the time the four-deejay lineup was at full throttle, Guido Palau and Pat McGrath had emerged to join the club kids, and Naomi Campbell had sandwiched herself into the VIP area with Bianca Brandolini d’Adda and Franca Sozzani. “I love a great deejay,” said the supermodel, who added she’d be showing up to support a young designer at the couture shows this week—stay tuned to find out which one.
