Working In Spain

Barcelona is the capital and the most populous city of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain after Madrid.
In Barcelona, as in the rest of Catalonia, there are two official languages, Catalan and Spanish.  Barcelona has adopted the Euro as its standard currency
Barcelona is today one of the world's leading tourist, economic and cultural centres and its influences in commerce, education, arts and fashion all contribute to its status as one of the worlds major global cities
Barcelona has recently been voted the 16th most “livable city in the world”.
The traditional importance in textiles is reflected in Barcelona's repeated attempts to become a major fashion centre.  Pl. de Catalunya, Passeig de Gracia, and Av. Diagonal comprise the largest of Barcelona’s shopping districts. Located centrally, these three main avenues provide an endless number of mainstream clothing, shoe, and accessory stores. Av. Diagonal, in particular, houses many of the luxury designer name boutiques, such as Calvin Klein, Versace, and Armani.
The area around the Placa Catalunya makes up the city's historical centre and, alongside the upper half of Avinguda Diagnol, is the main commercial area of the city
The Catalan public health system – known casually as CatSalut - is of high quality,
As a result, the private healthcare system in Barcelona is robust and highly recommended for expats moving to the Catalan region.
Barcelona is served by a comprehensive local public transport network that includes a metro, a bus network, two separate modern tram networks, a separate historic tram line, and several funiculars and aerial cable cars
As is the case when moving to any new city, housing costs are going to make up a large part of an expat’s budget in Barcelona.
Aside from the size of the property, living in the main areas of the city could mean a significant difference in housing cost from the suburbs. A single-room home would be around 250 to 400 Euros per month, an additional room making about a hundred-and-fifty-euro difference, while a studio-type apartment could be somewhere between 400 and 650 Euros a month.  The grand villas usually start at 3,000 Euros per month going up to as much as 20,000.  It is also important to keep in mind that most apartments and houses in Barcelona do not have central heating or air conditioning.
Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate with mild, humid winters and warm, dry summers
Its average annual temperature is 20 °C (68 °F)
